In recognition of the importance of promoting excellence in STEM (Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics) teaching and learning at the college level, the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio supported the creation of an Ohio Regional Network of the national, Project Kaleidoscope initiative of the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
Drawing from among individuals nominated by both independent and public, two-year
and four-year colleges and universities, an initial Advisory Board was convened to develop Mission/Goals, Governance and Conference plans. The Mission/Goals and By-Laws were approved in April 2014 and Ohio was officially represented at the first national, PKAL Regional Network Advisory Board in May.
The first Ohio PKAL conference drew over 220 educators to the campus of Otterbein University in May of 2015. The second annual conference is scheduled for May 2016 on the campus of Capital University, in Columbus.
