AICUO Online Course Sharing Pilot

In April 2014, the AICUO Board accepted the recommendation of the MOOC/Online Task Force to create an online consortium for independent colleges and universities in Ohio, developed to share selected online courses at a set fee/enrollment, as “in-house classes” to accommodate transfer credits and financial aid. The Chief Academic Officer Steering Committee voted to move this forward as a pilot. Twelve Pilot institutions were recruited in May 2014, and the pilot planning team began its work in Summer 2014.

AICUO Ohio Language Consortium Pilot

In April 2014, the AICUO Board accepted the recommendation of the MOOC/Online Task Force to create a foreign language course-sharing initiative (either as a synchronous video-conferenced opportunity for students to join existing classes in real time and/or as a “signature thread” of the asynchronous, online course sharing consortium). The Chief Academic Officer Steering Committee voted to move this forward as a pilot. Thirteen Pilot institutions were recruited in May 2014 and the pilot planning team began its work in Summer 2014.

AICUO Faculty Development Workshop Implementation

In April 2014, the AICUO Board accepted the recommendation of the MOOC/Online Task Force to organize cross-institutional faculty development/leadership development conferences and/or regional workshops, either featuring a major speaker (not easily available to individual campuses) or raising critical topics that might draw only a few individuals from campuses (but are important and necessary for each, such as annual new chairs development, disciplinary-specific topics, etc.). The Chief Academic Officer Steering Committee voted to move forward with planning the implementation of this proposal. Fifteen institutions were recruited as members of the Implementation Team in May 2014 and the planning began in Summer 2014.

AICUO Online Faculty Development Portal Implementation

In April 2014, the AICUO Board accepted the recommendation of the MOOC/Online Task Force to create and market a portal that would house:

  • Vetted, organized, online faculty development resources (publicly available and/or developed on our member campuses, such as tutorials, webinars, links to sample pedagogies). The portal would be linked to all home campuses;
  • A faculty development events calendar to which member schools could all post, listing professional development events taking place on their campuses and open to external registrations (fees to be determined by the host campus), to fill up seats available in those faculty-development events.

The Chief Academic Officer Steering Committee voted to move forward with planning the implementation of this portal. Thirteen institutions were recruited to the Implementation Team in May 2014 and the planning team began its work in Summer 2014.
