Meeting Today's Challenges in Higher Education Seminar

On the campus of Capital University

Please join AICUO as partners Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, and Marsh McLlennan present a higher education summit for campus leadership on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Capital University. The one-day event brings together professionals from the areas of law, higher education and risk management to discuss solutions to pressing issues facing private colleges and universities.

The event includes workshops and discussions addressing:

  • student mental health concerns on campus
  • the importance of faculty handbook revision
  • #MeToo movement and campus Title IX and Title VII investigations.

CLE (continuing legal education) credits are available for this seminar and registration for this is $100.00. To register for these credits, please visit the CLE registration page. Department Chair Workshop

On the campus of Denison University

Please join AICUO for a workshop available to both new and experienced department chairs to strengthen leadership at the departmental level. Department chairs at Ohio’s independent colleges act as the bridge between members of their department and senior university administrators. Chairs most often are required to balance conflicting roles of departmental leader, faculty member, and institutional representative. This one-day workshop will bring together department chairs and other academic leaders from across Ohio’s private colleges to discuss a wide range of topics including:

  • Academic Leadership Moving Forward
  • Building and Maintaining a Collegial Department
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Dealing with Difficult Faculty Conversations
  • Financial Management
  • HR Management
  • Online Delivery and Management of Courses, Faculty, Students
  • Using Data Effectively

Campuses are encouraged to send multiple department chairs so that these individuals can work together to support change at their respective institution.

Independent College Session on College Credit Plus

On the campus of Franklin University

Join AICUO and the Ohio Department of Higher Education for an independent college only session on College Credit Plus. Dr. Larisa Harper from the Department will be giving a presentation and also setting aside time for questions related to the program. This will provide AICUO’s dual enrollment programs with a great opportunity to learn more about College Credit Plus and the new rules, and to ask sector-specific questions. This event is free of charge for AICUO members and the deadline for registration is Monday, October 29, 2018. Click here to register.
